Don Juan no existe

In the early 20th century, Countess Carmen Díaz de Mendoza Aguado, inspired yet frustrated by Mozart’s Don Giovanni, sets out to write her own version but struggles with doubt, societal pressures, and a haunting inner voice, leading to her play’s failure. Decades later, fragments of her life and work resurface through obituaries and fading memories. In 2024, a modern composer seeks to rediscover and reinvent her lost opera, conversing with the echoes of the past to reclaim the Countess’s silenced voice and vision.

Jean-Philippe Rameau: Platée @ Czech National Theatre, Prague

Platée, a silly and conceited nymph, falls for a fake wedding to Jupiter, king of the gods. This new staging of Jean-Philippe Rameau’s Baroque masterpiece is colourful, eccentric, full of wit and free of taboos, yet also surprisingly deep. Louis XV had Platée performed for his son's wedding festivities in 1745. The burlesque raised Rameau’s standing and played a part in his appointment as composer to the court. In 1749, the Paris opera added Platée to its repertoire, notwithstanding the outrage sparked by the libretto.

Devenir Lucky Love

He was born different, and chose to become unique. Becoming Lucky Love follows how Luc Bruyère turned his “flaw” into strength and his life into an act of creation. Born without his left arm, he faced the violence of people’s gaze from childhood, sinking into shame and self-destruction. “I was born homosexual, without a left arm — I didn’t fit what a man was expected to be: a figure without nuance, categorical,” Luc confides. Instead of giving up, he chose to transform himself and become what he had always dreamed of: a singer and performer. With his angelic face and magnetic presence, nothing seems to resist him — yet his blazing loves and excesses marked him deeply. Now, on the verge of turning 30, he looks back without filters. Becoming Lucky Love paints the portrait of an avant-garde, captivating outsider who proves that destiny can be endlessly reinvented through strength, poetry, and self-invention.
