Ringo Starr: One of Them

In the early 1960s, Ringo Starr, well known for his easygoing personality, became a legend as a member of The Beatles. Starr, primarily a drummer, also sang and occasionally wrote songs for the group, including "With a Little Help from My Friends" and "Octopus's Garden." In part, Starr's playing shaped rock n' roll for decades to come, as he kept the beat with his sharp, aggressive style behind the kit. As a result of the goodwill and fortune he earned as a Beatle, he was loved around the world and welcomed wherever he went. Even though he was the guy who could sing "Yellow Submarine" and get blisters on his fingers during "Helter Skelter," his success and status didn't protect him from the unseemly, upsetting, and depressing side of life. Although Starr has had more than his fair share of darkness and bad luck, he has been an honourable person through his contributions to music and charities.

To dress in Latvian signs

The moment when the lights on the stage suddenly go out and the dancer finds himself completely alone in the digital environment, the way back to the viewer must be sought again. Only by looking at oneself, Latvianness and the code of identity - in the lines and patterns of Latvian signs, an unimaginable power will be revealed. And one to one, two to four, tens to hundreds, and "one" will be "we" again. "To dress in Latvian signs" ("Latvju zīmēs rotāties") is a special and unique event in the history of Latvian stage folk dance, because instead of the usual stadium or stage format, the signs are arranged in a digital environment, merging hundreds of dancers with tradition, animations and editing possibilities. Also, what has been unprecedented in the context of stage folk dance is the sound quality with which this performance offers to listen to 15 original compositions based on folk lyrics by Mārtiņš Miļevsks.

Take That at the BBC

They’re Britain’s best-loved and most enduring boys-to-men band, and here we celebrate a selection of Take That’s greatest BBC appearances from their long and varied career. This collection contains all the biggest hits that you’ll never forget, from both phases of the band’s existence: the glorious early days of nonstop number ones, when Gary, Robbie, Mark, Howard and Jason were everyone’s favourite pop pin-ups; and then the 21st-century comeback that nobody expected, where the fans’ patience paid off and the band reinstated themselves at the top of the charts. Of course, everything changes over the years, and we capture them as a five-piece, a quartet and a trio, but what shines through at all times is the quality of the songwriting and performances, and that magical connection with the audiences that’s made them such a hit for so long.

Prince Hodong

Korea National Opera celebrates the 60th anniversary of its establishment by performing KNO’s first ever performance in 1962, to look back on the past 60 years and contribute to the development of Korea’s cultural arts. Prince Hodong was very well-received during its premiere for its strong dramatic structure and folksy and comfortable melodies. It tells the story of Prince Hodong of Goguryeo and Princess Nakrang of an enemy country who falls in love with him. In this tragic story, Hodong strives to reclaim the land of Nakrang, while the princess’s devoted love leads her to destroy the magical drum, Jamyunggo. Prince Hodong reclaims the land because of her support. Her father, King Nakrang is so angry that he kills his daughter.
