Radio France lives to the rhythm of its artists. Once again this year, Hip Hop Symphonique will give them the opportunity to express their talent. So it's with renewed pleasure that we welcome the personalities on the bill, whose very different backgrounds and careers are characteristic of the richness of this project. Whether, like Wallen and Sniper, they've decided to take to the stage in an exceptional way this year, or whether, like Sofiane, they're the unifying personality of the year, or, like Dosseh, the author of one of this season's most influential rap tracks, or, of course, S.Pri Noir, a confirmed talent, we're delighted to welcome them and see them succeed the prestigious list of artists from previous editions.

Presented by Vodka O, legendary five piece Gang of Youths make history by playing Australia's first ever MTV Unplugged in Melbourne. Performing an intimate and stripped-back set of ten hit tracks, it's easy to see why they're one of the most critically acclaimed artists in the world right now.

Following the release of the bands much-acclaimed fourth studio album 'Affinity', they embarked upon their 10th anniversary tour across Europe & North America. Recorded and filmed on the 13th April 2017, at the legendary Melkweg venue on the Amsterdam stop of that tour, this represents the band's first ever live document with tracks from across the band's discography.

"From his career debut within the ONJ (french National Jazz Orchestra) to his duet GRAND BAZAR with Eve Risser, Antonin-Tri Hoang's music is reminiscent of the late Ornette Coleman, with its fluid lyricism and a similar taste for controlled skidding. Commissioned by Banlieues Bleues, APPARITIONS - ORNETTE aims at summoning the spirit of the free jazz godfather. Antonin-Tri Hoang offers dreams, wanderings, evocative bridges. Not a revival, but a survival. His NOVEMBRE quartet, joined by its many guests, masters the art of zapping and collage between eras and references. The film is the story of this creation and of these apparitions."

Stage director Frank Castorf “might have been born to direct From the House of the Dead” (Opera Today). His gritty, visually striking adaptation brings bold modern and postmodern touches to Janáček’s masterwork without ever overshadowing the intense forward momentum of the music, conducted to dramatic perfection by Simone Young and sung by an all-star cast in Munich. Janáček adapted Dostoevsky for this powerfully compelling opera set in a Siberian prison camp, full of starkly contrasting moods and motifs, unusual in its episodic structure. The last opera Janáček ever composed, its third act was on his desk when he died in 1928; attempts by his students to “complete” his orchestration have largely fallen away over the decades in favor of the original version. Despite the grimness of the setting and the brutality of several characters, the composer’s compassion shines through in tender moments, movingly illustrating his motto for the work: “in every creature, a spark of God.”

Messiah –The Strange Tale of of Amakusa Shirō– The story takes place in Edo Castle in 1656. Foreign-style painter Yuan Yamada is asked by the young shogun Ietsuna Tokugawa to tell him the truth about the rebellion in the Bizen Shimabara domain 20 years ago. Yuan begins to tell the story of Tokisada (Shiro) Amakusa, the man who stood up for the people and became venerated as a messiah. On November 16th, Amon Amarth will release their new documentary and supporting live album(s), The Pursuit Of Vikings: 25 Years In The Eye Of The Storm – which includes a retrospective documentary that features a wealth of live and behind-the-scenes content and extensive band interviews. This film tells the Swedish quintet’s history, through both their own eyes and those of the fans that have supported them along the way. It is a thrilling collection that pays respect to the faithful, as well as making for a detailed and riveting introduction for those new to their inspiring story. Paired with this documentary is the live video/audio, which contains two different sets at 2017′s Summer Breeze Festival in Dinkelsbuhl, Germany, capturing the unit at their very best.

Amuro Namie's last dome tour! Starting in February 2018, the diva went on her Final Tour 2018 ~Finally~, bidding farewell to fans through 17 shows nationwide and another six Asia tour stops. She attracted 800,000 people to her tour, the largest ever for a solo artist in Japan. Each limited edition release of the tour includes her final Tokyo Dome live, her outdoors 25th Anniversary Okinawa live in September 2017, and one other live, giving fans the most complete Amuro Namie experience. This edition includes the Fukuoka Yahuoku! Dome live.

Live broadcast of a concert by the band The Tap Tap from the women's prison in Světlá nad Sázavou. Also performing are Katr band and Wsedě. The Tap Tap band, led by Šimon Ornest, has prepared a project in cooperation with the Ministry of the Interior and the Prison Service, which will culminate in a concert at the women's prison in Světlá nad Sázavou. Not only will the audience consist of women serving prison sentences, but the local band Katr band, also composed of female prisoners, will provide choral accompaniment to songs from The Tap Tap's new album. In this way, everyone is putting into practice the motto "Even with a bad hand, you can win if you don't give up."

"Wuthering Nights: Live in Birmingham" is a live album by Steve Hackett and his band. The title is a combination of 'Wind & Wuthering', the last studio album by Genesis on which Hackett played, and Hackett's album 'The Night Siren', which was released prior to this live album. Hackett did not play 'Wot Gorilla' from 'Wind & Wuthering', of course; the decision by the other members of Genesis to put this song on the album instead of 'Inside And Out' was one of the reasons for Hackett's departure. 'All In A Mouse's Night' is also missing. Recordings for the live album took place in May 2017 during concerts at the Symphony Hall in Birmingham.

Whitesnake revisited the music that singer David Coverdale recorded with Deep Purple in the Seventies when they released The Purple Album. The album, and the tour that followed, offered fans new modern interpretations of Purple classics like "Burn" and "Mistreated." Whitesnake puts their distinctive spin on several songs from Coverdale's studio albums with Deep Purple - Burn (1974), Stormbringer (1974), and Come Taste The Band (1975). Highlights include: "You Fool No One," "The Gypsy" and "Soldier Of Fortune."

Scratched directly onto 35mm film stock, this abstract film is a visual interpretation of a piece for solo violin based on a Bosnian popular song from Bosnia-Herzegovina. The composer, Malcolm Goldstein, describes it as a gesture of hope for peace in that land ravaged by war during the 1990s.

Final Tour 2018 ~Finally~ is Namie Amuro's farewell tour before her retirement from the music industry on September 16, 2018. Her final tour, once again spanned the five major domes in Japan, started on February 17, 2018 and concluded on June 3, 2018. The tour took place in Nagoya Dome, Fukuoka Dome, Sapporo Dome, Osaka Dome and ended at Tokyo Dome. The concerts were released on DVD and Blu-ray on August 29th, 2018 and came in five different editions. All of the editions include her final performance at Tokyo Dome as well as her 25th Anniversary concert in Okinawa. Each edition also contains an additional concert (from one of the aforementioned domes) with a distinct directorial theme. This concert was her final performance.

‘In reality, this Lohengrin is an entirely new phenomenon for the modern consciousness!’ Richard Wagner himself understood the innovative character of his sixth piece of music theatre, completed in 1848, the year of revolutions. Although it is reckoned among his ‘romantic operas’, his new vision of musical drama is already clearly heralded in this work. In his hands, the mediaeval saga of the Knight of the Swan becomes a meditation on the true love that asks no questions. Alain Altinoglu, our Music Director, who has already conducted this work in Bayreuth, guarantees the quality of the music, while the director Olivier Py, known at La Monnaie for his brilliant productions of Les Huguenots and Hamlet, can be relied on not to downplay Wagner’s revolutionary political side. Wagner’s own opinion was that ‘one can only understand Lohengrin if one can liberate oneself from any modern-looking, generalising form of representation so as to see the phenomena of real life’. A challenge to us all?

Each live appearance of HEILUNG is a spectacular affair, where the lines blur between musical performance, ancient pagan rituals, past, and present. The Danish band found a fitting name for their opulent stage set and huge production: amplified history. Their viewers use other words such as "amazing, mind-blowing, goose bumps, unforgettable". As a tribute to the overwhelming demand of their fast- growing host of supporters, HEILUNG released a complete live show under the banner of 'LIFA', which was filmed at Castlefest 2017.

Charles Watson and Rebecca Taylor are Slow Club. After four well-received albums and 10 years of touring, conflicting perspectives on success and Slow Club’s future have pushed the two apart. Could this be the end of the Sheffield-based indie band and the two musicians’ longstanding friendship? If so, what will the future look like when they leave something behind that has defined their lives for over a decade? And why can it sometimes be so difficult to simply enjoy doing what so many would-be musicians dream of? A remarkable, bittersweet portrait of what may have been the band’s final tour, filmmaker Piers Dennis joined Charles and Rebecca on the road, capturing the frailties and brilliance of their musical partnership and documenting what friendship looks like from the back of a bus.
