Phish: Coral Sky

On November 2nd, 1996, Phish performed at Coral Sky Amphitheater in West Palm Beach, FL; the only outdoor shed show of the Fall Tour. The show combined the residual energy of Halloween with a tropical feel that could only have happened in South Florida in November. Amidst swaying palms and soft breezes, the band played a deeply experimental show. They were joined by percussionist Karl Perazzo (Santana), whose contribution helped extend and build upon the magic of Halloween, adding polyrhythms that explored new space within Phish's music.Set 1: Ya Mar[1], Julius[1], Fee[2] -> Taste[1], Cavern[1] > Stash[1], The Lizards[1], Free[1], Johnny B. Goode[1]Set 2: Crosseyed and Painless[3] -> Run Like an Antelope[4], Waste[1], Harry Hood[1] > A Day in the Life[1], Sweet AdelineEncore: Funky Bitch[5]

Negură Bunget: Focul viu

"Focul Viu" (Romanian for "Living Fire") is the title of Negura Bunget's first live DVD and double CD featuring a professional recording of a complete 90-minute performance in Bucharest in January 2008. "Focul Viu" is especially valuable because of the fact that it presents Negura Bunget in its classic line-up of Hupogrammos, Sol Faur, and Negru. As the band is probably never going to perform in this line-up again, "Focul Viu" is a must-have for every fan of Negura Bunget who didn't have a chance to witness the band live before their split. "Focul Viu" is available as DVD, 2CD, and as a box-set including both formats.

Goldberg Variations Acoustica

In the summer of 2010, AIX Records recorded 7 new projects using prototype Panasonic 3D video cameras. The first of these projects to make it through the post production process was the Goldberg Variations Acoustica, which was released as the world's first 3D Music Album&trade on August 3 of that year. It is not a live concert Blu-ray disc like virtually all other blu-ray titles although it does have HD-Video of the entire session. It is a single take improvisation based on the Baroque masterpiece of J.S. Bach, my favorite composer. The AIX All Star Band has done three previous 'acoustica' projects with us and each has its own quality.

Donizetti La Favorite

One of the composer's most beguiling scores, La Favorite is Gaetano Donizetti's La favorita in it's original French form; a tale of love and war that represents a glorious mix of Italian bel canto and 19th c. grand opera. Vincent Boussard's arresting Toulouse production does full justice to this newly renewed masterpiece. Three international principals take on the work's demanding roles: Chinese tenor Yijie Shi is a 'revelation' as Fernand, the rich-toned, authoritative French baritone Ludovic Tezier as King Alphonse XI and lauded American mezzo Kate Aldrich - 'the Carmen of this generation' - plumbing the emotional depths of Leonor's music. Conductor and bel canto specialist Antonello Allemandi adds to the passionate proceedings onstage. Maestro Allemandi demonstrated full authority over the stage for the musically complex scenes, and in the arias and duets demonstrated his confidence in the singers by establishing ample tempos to support their soaring vocal lines.
