Constructing her work entirely from laser-printed film stills (approximately 770 in total) lifted from Niklaus Schilling’s 1972 horror film, Nachtschatten, Zemlianski rips, layers, and paints these images with pastels and charcoal, then scans them back together into a bracing animation set to the eponymous song (“E”) by the Berlin-based band, Comb.

The beloved composer Eduards Rozenštrauhs was born on August 13, 1918, and a few months later, the state of Latvia was established. How did the author of the popular song "Zilais lakatiņš" live his life until his death on March 8, 1992? Historical evidence is sought in the stories of the composer's relatives — his daughter Skārleta, granddaughter Vineta, niece Vallija — as well as the memories of his colleagues from the Puppet Theater and the stories of musicians who performed Eduards Rozenštrauhs' songs together with the composer himself during the Awakening.

Following Shiro's Story (Pt.1), Kyle has gone ghost with Kira and Kyla and has not been seen or heard from in the past year, leaving Shiro no choice but to give up hope in reuniting his family. But with a price on Kyle's head, Shiro repays The Plug before getting back to work on his own weight after leaving his day job. One day Shiro's ex-girlfriend rings Shiro and says she misses him and begs to be taken back. Shiro subsequently agrees but with one demand, she sets Kyle up to die. She then agrees, and the plan is hatched for Shiro's young G's to take the hit on Kyle allowing Shiro to take Kira and Kyla away and rebuild the family that was once torn apart. But with the planned hit on Kyle unsuccessful, and Shiro still hung up and angry with Kira setting him up and taking everything he had away in the first instance, the move away isn't so straight forward.

A loose adaptation of Johann Wolfgang von Goethes epistolary novel 'The Sorrows of Young Werther', the opera is conducted by Germanys Cornelius Meister. It tells the story of the impossible union of poet Werther to Charlotte, a woman of duty already promised to a wealthy businessman. Goethes drama is echoed in Massenets score by emotionally wide-ranging vocal parts written on a grand scale. Juan Diego Flórez is undisputedly one of the best belcanto tenors of our times and embodies a tortured and nuanced Werther. 'Its not a profane appearance of any singer it is an epiphany!' gushes the Neue Zürcher Zeitung in a rave review. At Flórezs side, Franco-British mezzo-soprano Anna Stéphany sang her role début as Charlotte. The one-room staging by Tatjana Gürbaca cleverly makes the social stranglehold of oppression tangible.
