Pendarvia is a 30 minute film that documents the recording process of The Decemberists album "The King Is Dead" (Capitol, 2011). The album was recorded in a barn in rural Oregon. Pendarvia is heavily driven by the natural surroundings of the area, inter-cutting music with beautiful shots of the surrounding scenery. The film follows the abstractly linear narrative of the recording process, inter-cutting found moments of dialogue from the band, producer Tucker Martine, collaborators and friends. The film is a beautiful audio/visual collage that explores the trials and tribulations of the creative process.

Live From Beyond Hell/Above Heaven was taped in November 2010 at Volbeat's sold out show at the Forum in Copenhagen. A meditation on life, art, and purpose, 'Rungs in a Ladder' centers around Jacob Bannon, an accomplished visual artist and front man for hardcore band Converge, a group that has been carving its own iconoclastic path through the extreme music landscape for over twenty years. Bannon reflects on the formative events in his life as well as his continuing commitment to creation rather than destruction. A commitment that, he explains, is informed as much by anger as it is by survival. The documentary is a single continuous thought that sprawls in multiple directions but ultimately culminates in a sobering and uplifting statement of purpose.

The broadcast of Donizetti's Roberto Devereux will be presented live on Saturday, April 16 in select cinemas nationwide. In this climactic opera of the trilogy, directed by Sir David McVicar, she plays Queen Elizabeth I, forced to sign the death warrant of the nobleman she loves, Roberto Devereux. Tenor Matthew Polenzani is Devereux, and mezzo-soprano Elina Garanca and baritone Mariusz Kwiecien complete the principal quartet in the bel canto masterpiece, directed by Sir David McVicar and conducted by Donizetti specialist Maurizio Benini.

“Mr Mojo Risin’” is the story of the making of the Doors’ last album with Jim Morrison “L.A. Woman”. 2011 is the 40th anniversary both of the album’s release and of the death of Jim Morrison and this programme goes into detail of how the album came about, its recording and what was happening to the band at the time. The story is told through new interviews with the three surviving Doors: Ray Manzarek, Robbie Krieger and John Densmore plus contributions from Jac Holzman, founder of their label Elektra Records, Bill Siddons, who was their manager, Bruce Botnick, engineer and co-producer of the album and others associated with the Doors at this time. The show includes archive footage of the Doors performing both live and in the studio, classic photographs and new musical demonstrations from the Doors.
