Stage musical adaptation of Hans Christian Andersen’s iconic tale in which brave village girl Gerda sets out to rescue her best friend Kai before the Snow Queen freezes him forever.

Witty, fresh and instantly successful, Vampire Weekend has “streamlined ska, post-punk, chamber music and Afropop into a glorious ultramodern groove” (Paste). This March evening, the band made its Austin City Limits debut with songs from their latest album Modern Vampires in the City.

The legendary Jamaican-born dub and regga master Rasta Lee "Scratch" Perry, the spiritual MC of the film, invokes Haile Selassie in a fiery re-enactment of an historical event from the Italian Fascist period when an effigy of the last Negus of Ethiopia, Haile Selassie I, was burned in the main square of the filmmaker’s hometown, Vernasca, a village located between Milano and Bologna. At the same time, Hailé Selassié I was becoming the Black Messiah for Rastafarianism, a movement born in Jamaica during the 30s and spread all over the planet, including Ethiopia, considered the Mother Land by Rasta followers.

See how it all started in Belgrade in the movie - I was a punk before you. Zoran Kostic Cane, Cirilo, Slobodan Nesovic Loka, Srdjan Dragojevic, Srdjan Gojkovic Gile, Branko Rosic, Djole Rahaja, Beska, Nebojsa Pajkic and many other Belgrade punks of that time talk about the first days of punk in Yugoslavia.

Through two radically contrasting 2016 productions - a traditional 19th-century recreation, and a gritty reimagining of the work by celebrated Anglo-Bangladeshi choreographer Akram Khan - Rojo examines the cultural and social background to the ballet’s genesis in 1840s Paris, and the spiritual themes that have fuelled its success over the last 175 years. Giselle is the story of a young peasant girl who personifies all that is good in life, and ultimately forgives the aristocrat who has seduced and betrayed her. With Giselle, the look and emotional heart of ballet was transformed forever, from mime-based storytelling to a fusion of emotion, music and movement, formulating a tradition that has inspired audiences, dancers and choreographers ever since.

Téo Frank was just 18 and an aspiring director when he decided to try his luck at filmmaking on the other side of the Atlantic. After a series of encounters and experiences, his trip took a turn when he crossed paths with photographer Mason Strehl in Alaska. Their encounter took him to New York where he got the chance to work with devotees to hip hop, talented artists like Awon Phoniks. From this adventure a documentary was born called UNDERDOGS. Who are the rappers in this film? Téo didn't know them when he began, and never dreamed their encounter would change his life the way it did.

Il tabarro is a tale of jealousy and murder between Michele, his young wife Giorgetta and her lover Luigi, set aboard a barge on the Seine. Suor Angelica tells the story of the nun Angelica’s familial loss, sacrifice and suicide. Gianni Schicchi is an opera full of trickery, greed and romance as a family dispute breaks out over a missing will. The Olivier-nominated Royal Opera production featuring a trio of one-act Puccini operas was first performed together on the same bill at Covent Garden in September 2011, and was acclaimed by the Telegraph as "an operatic treat... three hours of gorgeous music that allows big voices to let emotion rip" and by the Evening Standard as "a triumphant vindication of the social awareness and dramatic power of Puccini's triptych". The trio of operas offers a panorama of emotions, with the dark and foreboding Il tabarro and comic Gianni Schicchi bookending a heart-wrenching Suor Angelica.

In a bland, utilitarian world of order, one worker finds his inner jazz

Drawn by its charm, Fermin Muguruza has gone to The Big Easy to record an album, Irun Meets New Orleans—where he adapts eight songs from his career to New Orleans sounds and performs two classics from the city—and to make a documentary, Nola?, about the situation ten years after Katrina. All this, surrounded by the cream of the local scene: from the historic Preservation Hall Jazz Band to bounce rapper Katey Red, alongside collaborators from Galactic, Dr. John, and Trombone Shorty.

The show saw Bugg joined by The Smiths' legend Johnny Marr and singer-songwriter Michael Kiwanuka for a number of tracks and play both an acoustic set and electric set. He was also joined by a choir for a special rendition of his track 'Broken'.

After a thirty-year-plus hiatus, Todd Rundgren's Utopia graced the Chicago Theater stage, with the hopes of promising fans an extraordinary, other-worldly concert experience. In the 1990s Todd retired Utopia and reverted to making his own music, with varying degrees of success, and then last year came the announcement of the long-awaited U.S. reunion tour, where the album in review here originates. Recorded in Chicago on 22nd May 2018, the music reflects a run through many of the finer moments of the Utopia back catalogue. Todd is joined by fellow original members Willie Wilcox (drums) and Kasim Sultan (bass), alongside replacement keyboard player Gil Assayas who covered at short notice for an indisposed Ralph Shuckett. The original 70's-formed band established a stellar reputation for stretching the prog rock/pop. The movie is a road movie where Triana's spirit is recalled across his friends, musicians, managers and admirers. The success of the band was mixing the magic of Rock Music with the deep musical roots of Andalusia. Gonzalo García-Pelayo,the director, and his brother Javier, friend, discoverer and manager of TRIANA, have created this cinematographic project with the intention of honoring the mythical band. Their original songs will be use used as background to represent the spirit of 40 years ago when freedom and music were an important way of life.

Bepstein is 27-year-old musician from Baltimore, MD who feels like he's 'still 14.' He sets out on a challenge to write and record a song a day for 30 days. No one is more committed than Bepstein is to doing things purely for the fun of them--playing kickball, riding roller coasters, eating pizza, playing punk rock. He'll stay awake for days (literally) just to make sure he gets to experience as much 'awesomeness' as possible. The songs form the backbone of the narrative, which tracks the darker side of his inability to grow up, his struggle to fit into a punk community, and to hold onto his friends and maximum summer.

This collection from the BBC archives includes performances of Pretty Persuasion from the Old Grey Whistle Test in 1984, Orange Crush on Top of the Pops in 1989 and special acoustic versions of Losing My Religion and Half a World Away on The Late Show in 1991, along with performances on Later with Jools Holland and Parkinson. Hey Beautiful Jerk had the great pleasure in the creation of Mastodon’s “Crack the Skye” 10th Anniversary Tour Film. Working closely with drummer Brann Dailor, HBJ re-imagined the narrative from the legendary concept album as an animated film that takes viewers on a journey across the cosmos with a telepathic, paraplegic boy as he astral projects across time, space and the spirit world. Working from the original concept album artwork by Paul Romano, HBJ and its team of illustrators and animators developed an animated sci-fi film that features fantastic worlds for every song of the album. Illustrator Skinner collaborated once again with HBJ providing a series of mind altering concept designs of Rasputin, Satan and a slew of creatures and demons that populated the “Crack the Skye” film. Creative Directors Gina Niespodziani and Mark Szumski led the team but also handled all editing, CGI and composting.

Since his arrival in France as a child, the traumas of exile, abandonment, and poverty have shaped the identity of Alix Mathurin. As a teenager, rap and the streets led him away from school. Endowed with a strong presence and a sensitive pen, Kery James quickly becomes the voice of a generation of young people from the suburbs who are aware that life and they themselves are deteriorating together. At the same time, he plays with fire within a gang of drug dealers and robbers. The murder of one of his friends prompts him to stop everything, both rap and the path of delinquency. Converted to Islam, he resumes rap as a missionary because he knows that his voice is influential.

His work is characterized by a rare uniformity and consistency, regarding not only the pioneering means which he introduced in the world of sounds and the innovatory music systems, but also his own philosophical universe which runs through and inspires his compositions: the myth, the transcendent, the mysticism, the primordial, the ritual, the unapproachable, the panic, the hysteria... With Christou's early death in a tragic accident, on his birthday, in January 8th 1970, the world of contemporary music lost one of the most thrilling and provocative talents. The documentary attempts to illustrate the personality and the spirit of this great thinker of art and follow the path of his short life, which has always been interwoven with art and his meaning of offering to humanity and civilization.
